This class explores many basic techniques used in flameworking.  Students will learn how to safely operate different types of glassworking equipment and use a variety of tools to manipulate molten glass.  In this two-day class we will create many solid and blown glass objects such as marbles, paperweights, pendants, jars, and ornaments.  We will also experiment with many forms of glass such as dichroic, frit, and striking colors.  This workshop concentrates on developing skills in basic flameworking and provides a solid technical groundwork for future development. No experience is required

Class includes

  • 12 hours of studio time including lecture

  • Raw materials- clear and colored rods, tubing, frit, and dichroic

  • Information and resources packet

  • Use of torches, kiln, oxygen, propane, ventilation, tools and studio space

  • Each student will have their own work station to use during the teaching and studio session

  • 2 hours extra studio time (to practice techniques learned during class)
