+ What is Flameworking?

Flameworking is a type of glassblowing in which a torch is used to melt the glass. Once in a molten state, the glass is formed by blowing and shaping with tools and hand movements. It is also known as lampworking or torchworking

+ What happens after I sign up for a class?

Once you register for a class you are sent an email confirming your purchase. Shortly after that you are sent a detailed email with additonal directions and details.

+ How long are the classes?

The Half-Day Class is 3 hours long and are held from 10am-1pm or 2pm- 5pm. (Starting Decemeber 2023) The One day classes are 6 hours long from 10am-4pm and held on Saturday or Sunday. The two day classes are 12 hours (6 hours each day) and held on weekends running the same times as the one dzy class.

+ Do I need to bring anything to class?

Students should bring a lunch and drinks for their class.

+ What should I wear to class?

Non- flammable and cotton clothes should be worn along with closed- toe shoes. If it is cold outside students should dress in layers. If it is hot outside students may wear shorts and a short sleeved shirt.

+ What ages are able to participate?

Ages 12 and up are able to participate

Minors must have permission from their parents.

Students under the age of 14 must be accompanied by their parent who must also register for the class and participate with them.

Some acceptions are made depeding on the class format.

+ What are your guidelines for Covid-19 safety while conducting classes?

Our ventilation system pulls 8,000 cubic feet of air per minute which is the type of safety equipment needed to adequately reduce potential exposure to fumes, dust and gasses. This far exceeds any other commercial studio but certainly the type of safety you want when working with potentially hazardous materials. It also has allowed us to continue our classes safely given the nature of how the coronavirus spreads.

+ Do I get to keep what I made in the class??

Yes! Students keep all the work they made in class. Glass can be picked up from the drop box at the gate the following weekend or it can be shipped to you for $10.

+ How do I get to your studio?

The studio is located on Rock Rest Rd. Pittsboro NC, 27312. Specific directions are included in the class email when you sign up.

+ What time should I arrive for class?

Classes start at 10 am and students may arrive up to 15 minutes before class starts.

+ How many glass pieces do we make in the 1 day class and the 2 day class?

Students on average make 1-3 pieces in the Half Day class 4-6 pieces in the 1 day class and 5-10 pieces in the 2 day class.

+ What is provided with the class?

All materials and equipment are included with the classes. Students only need to bring lunch

+ How do we get our glass after class ?

Once the glass has cooled in the oven ,students can either pick up their remaining glass or have it mailed to their address. The cost for shipping is $10
